Chennai, Tamilnadu, India, December 2025 — Nilakantan G has been appointed as the new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Vayona Energy, a pioneering wind energy company formed after the acquisition of Siemens Gamesa’s onshore business in India and Sri Lanka. In this new role, Nilakantan will lead the organization’s HR and people transformation agenda as it scales its operations in the clean energy space.
Before joining Vayona Energy, Nilakantan served as Co-Founder at Blue Oceans HR Services, where he offered end-to-end HR consulting and digital transformation solutions to help organizations enhance talent, policy, and compliance frameworks.
Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Group CHRO at Karamtara Engineering, where he oversaw HR for the group’s manufacturing and infrastructure verticals. Simultaneously, he contributed as Chief Mentor at Skills Connect, strengthening the corporate-campus talent pipeline.
He also played a pivotal role at Reliance Retail as Vice President – HR Strategy, where he led HR integration for 24 acquired companies across diverse verticals such as grocery, pharma, fashion, and logistics, designing a loosely coupled model for business and people alignment.
Nilakantan has also held senior leadership roles at Reliance Industries Limited, where he set up HR operations for the greenfield Coal Bed Methane and pipeline businesses. His previous stints include HR leadership at Raymond, BG Group, Tradeline LLC, Xerox India, Wockhardt, JSW, and Voltas Limited.
He holds a Master’s in Social Work (Personnel Management, IR & Labour Welfare) from D.G. Vaishnav College, University of Madras.
