Yokohama, Japan, April 2026 – Nissan Motor Corporation has announced the appointment of Jay Cooney as Vice President, Regional Communications – Nissan Americas. In this role, he will lead communications strategy across the Americas, strengthening brand voice and supporting Nissan’s ongoing transformation in the region.
With more than two decades of experience in global automotive and corporate communications, Jay Cooney brings a proven track record in shaping strategic narratives, managing reputation, and driving impact during periods of change.
Prior to joining Nissan Motor Corporation, Jay Cooney served at Enviri as Chief Communications & Marketing Officer, where he built and led a global communications and marketing function, driving a strategic rebrand and aligning communications with business transformation goals.
Earlier, he held a senior leadership role at PepsiCo as Vice President, Corporate Communications, where he led global communications strategy, strengthened media relations, and served as a key spokesperson for the organization’s top leadership.
He also worked with Ford Motor Company as Director, Global News & Financial Communications, where he enhanced global communications operations and strengthened the company’s media positioning.
At General Motors, he held multiple leadership roles including Director, Global Media Relations & News Operations and Vice President, Corporate Affairs – GM Korea, where he led global communications initiatives and supported major business transformations.
Earlier in his career, he also held roles at DaimlerChrysler, building a strong foundation in automotive communications and corporate affairs.
