New Delhi, India – In an empowering move on International Women’s Day, NTT DATA, alongside NLB Services, has announced the commencement of the third edition of their ‘Bridge the Gap’ hackathon. This event, starting on March 8, 2024, and continuing until April 12, 2024, is designed to celebrate and promote gender diversity in the IT sector, aligning with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, #InspireInclusion.
The month-long competition aims to narrow the gender gap within the technology industry by providing a platform for women specializing in Java and .NET development. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their coding skills and compete for attractive prizes, recognizing their significant contributions to the tech community.
Research published by NTT DATA and NLB Services highlights the potential benefits of gender diversity in the workplace, including higher revenue growth and the acquisition of top talent. With 58% of employers acknowledging these benefits, the hackathon seeks to further initiatives attracting women back into the workforce, especially in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, where they have been historically underrepresented.
Ankur Dasgupta, Vice President, India APJ Marketing, NTT DATA Services, emphasized the hackathon’s role in encouraging women to push boundaries and explore new tech frontiers. “This event is not just a competition; it’s an invitation for women to upskill, think innovatively, and lead the charge in transforming the tech landscape,” Dasgupta stated.
Sachin Alug, CEO of NLB Services, also praised the hackathon’s impact on fostering innovation and addressing the gender gap in tech. “Through ‘Bridge the Gap’, we celebrate the creativity and solutions women bring to the table, offering them a pathway to future career opportunities,” Alug remarked.
