Vedanta Limited, India’s leading producer of aluminium and value-added aluminium products, has welcomed Pankaj Sureka as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for their Aluminium Business in Jharsuguda, Odisha. This strategic appointment marks a significant step in Vedanta’s journey towards enhancing its human resources capabilities and strengthening its position in the aluminium industry.

Pankaj Sureka brings to Vedanta Aluminium Business a rich background in human resources management, having previously served in several high-profile roles across various industry giants. His career highlights include serving as Vice President – Rewards at Reliance Industries Limited, where he led the rewards team focusing on compensation design and implementation. His tenure at Reliance also saw him working on Long Term Incentive Plan designs and leadership hiring support for the recruitment team. Prior to his role at Reliance, Sureka was the Senior General Manager Learning and Development, where he was instrumental in developing competency frameworks and institutionalizing Reliance Corporate University. His career also includes significant stints at Wipro Technologies and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, bringing a wealth of experience in employee engagement, compensation management, and HR transformation.

Educationally, Sureka is well-prepared for his role, holding an M.A. in HRM & LR from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and a B.Tech in Metallurgy & Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. His academic background, coupled with his extensive experience, positions him well to lead Vedanta Aluminium Business’s HR initiatives towards achieving excellence in HR practices.

Vedanta Aluminium Business is at the forefront of producing aluminium and value-added aluminium products in India, playing a pivotal role in various critical industries, including aerospace, automotive, and electrification. With more than half of India’s aluminium production credited to Vedanta, the company is committed to leveraging next-generation technology to maintain its market leadership and support the ‘Metal of the Future’ for a greener tomorrow.

The addition of Pankaj Sureka to the Vedanta team is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the company’s human resources strategies, driving growth and innovation.
