Petra Axelsson has been appointed as the new Chief Sustainability and People Officer at ITAB Group, based in Jönköping, Sweden. This role combines leadership responsibilities in both human resources and sustainability, underscoring ITAB’s integrated approach to corporate leadership.
Prior to joining ITAB Group, Axelsson served as the Director of Sustainability, Strategy, and New Businesses at Nobina AB from November 2020 to May 2023. In this role, she was pivotal in steering the company’s sustainability initiatives, exploring strategic growth avenues, and fostering new business opportunities. Her efforts significantly contributed to Nobina’s enhanced market position and operational sustainability.
Before her time at Nobina, Axelsson was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company, where she worked for over seven years from August 2013 to November 2020. Her tenure at McKinsey was marked by leadership in various consulting projects, which supported clients in strategic planning and operational improvements. Axelsson’s work particularly focused on embedding sustainable practices into core business strategies, thereby helping businesses achieve long-term success.
Additionally, Axelsson’s academic pursuit included a Master Thesis at Spotify from January 2013 to June 2013, where she explored innovative solutions in the digital music industry. This project complemented her earlier internship at McKinsey & Company, providing her with a robust foundation in both corporate strategy and sustainable business practices.
