London, UK – October 2024 – Phillippa O’Connor has been named the Chief People Officer (CPO) at PwC UK. This marks an important chapter in her 17-year career with PwC. In her new role, Phillippa will oversee the firm’s people strategy, leading HR initiatives across the UK to foster talent growth, employee engagement, and organizational development. She expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity, recognizing the privilege and responsibility that comes with this new position.
Before stepping into the role, Phillippa took a moment to thank her predecessor, Ian Elliott, for his impactful leadership over the past three years and his collaborative support during her transition back to work after maternity leave.
Phillippa has dedicated over 17 years to PwC UK, holding a variety of roles. Most recently, she served as the ESG Leader for the Tax, Legal, and People Business, where she led PwC’s efforts in environmental, social, and governance areas, aligning them with global best practices to promote sustainability and ethical leadership.
Prior to that, Phillippa was the National Leader of PwC’s Reward and Employment Practice for over five years. In this role, she worked with senior leaders across various industries to design and implement reward strategies and employment practices, helping PwC clients navigate complex compensation and benefits landscapes.
In 2008, she took a secondment with Prudential Financial in Hong Kong, where she led Executive Compensation for the PCA (Prudential Corporation Asia) division. This role gave her valuable international experience, broadening her expertise in global HR management and executive compensation frameworks.
Phillippa started her career in consulting at KPMG as a Reward Consultant for three years before joining PwC UK. She also worked with Towers Perrin (now WTW) as a Remuneration Consultant, further building her foundation in compensation strategies and workforce planning.
