Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, November 2025 – MinterEllison, one of Australia’s largest independent law and consulting firms, has announced the appointment of Rachel Banks as Chief People Officer. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades across financial services, telecommunications, consulting, and professional services, Rachel brings deep expertise in culture transformation, leadership development, and strategic HR leadership to the role.
Before joining MinterEllison, Rachel Banks served as Interim Chief People Officer at FleetPartners, where she led the People and Culture function at the ASX-listed asset management company. She advised the Board and Executive Leadership on organization design, culture strategy, and remuneration frameworks while overseeing initiatives focused on digital transformation, AI readiness, and future-of-work capability building.
Earlier, Rachel spent nearly five years with Westpac Group, holding several senior roles including Chief People Officer – Specialist Businesses and Program Executive – Culture and Leadership. She led major divestment and transformation projects across 13 business units, integrated reskilling programs focused on data and digital capability, and advised multiple Boards on people and remuneration strategies.
Prior to Westpac, she served as Director – People and Culture at AMP, overseeing HR strategy for wealth management, AMP Bank, and AMP New Zealand. Rachel’s career also includes leadership positions at Macquarie Group, Telstra, Capgemini, Bankwest, and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, where she drove strategic HR and transformation programs that shaped the people and leadership agendas for major Australian enterprises.
Alongside her corporate career, Rachel serves as a Board Member on the HR Advisory Board for the School of Management and Governance at UNSW, contributing to the development of future HR leadership and governance frameworks. Her appointment marks a strategic move by MinterEllison to strengthen its people-first agenda, leadership excellence, and organizational growth in an evolving business landscape.
