Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, August 2025 – Rachel Brecht has been appointed as Chief People Officer at the Pittsburgh Penguins, bringing her extensive leadership experience in people strategy, organizational culture, and transformation to the National Hockey League franchise. In her new role, she will oversee talent acquisition, organizational development, employee engagement, leadership growth, and culture alignment initiatives to support the Penguins’ vision of being the best organization in sports, respected for its culture of excellence on and off the ice.
Brecht most recently served as Founder of Align for Growth, a firm where she acted as Executive Advisor, Strategic Partner, and Fractional People & Culture Leader for high-growth, high-performance organizations across sectors including professional sports, private equity, utilities, renewable energy, technology services, and manufacturing. She specialized in executive team alignment, organizational transformation, employee experience design, and agile HR leadership.
Previously, Brecht held the role of Chief People Officer (fractional) at HIKE2, where she led the People & Culture function with responsibility for talent acquisition, employee experience, leadership development, performance management, total rewards, internal communications, and change management. Her work focused on deploying agile HR principles and processes to accelerate organizational growth.
Before HIKE2, Brecht spent over three years with Aspirant (acquired by Wavestone), where she served as Executive Advisor and Principal, Talent, HR and Organizational Effectiveness. She advised senior leaders on strategy execution, leadership alignment, organizational design, culture transformation, and talent lifecycle modernization while driving internal growth initiatives, agile operations, and go-to-market strategies.
Earlier in her career, Brecht dedicated over 11 years to TiER1 Performance, serving as Vice President, Organizational Development and Principal Consultant. She led the firm’s talent and organizational development function, designed employee value propositions, reengineered talent acquisition processes, and built frameworks for ongoing performance management. She has also held leadership roles with American Eagle Outfitters, Aerie, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Victoria’s Secret, Insight, Gateway Country, and ExecuTrain, where she honed her expertise in organizational effectiveness, change management, retail operations, and learning program management.
