With over 17 years of industry experience, Rakesh brings a proven record of innovation, business transformation, and customer-focused retail strategy, ideally aligning with Pepe Jeans’ growth ambitions in the dynamic Indian apparel market.
Rakesh most recently served as Vice President at Flipkart, where he spearheaded strategic initiatives within fashion and lifestyle. Prior to that, he played a pivotal role as Business Head at AZORTE (Reliance Retail), where he conceptualized and scaled a premium fashion retail format that surpassed ₹500 Cr in annual turnover within just two years, setting new industry benchmarks for scale and profitability.
Earlier in his career, Rakesh held senior leadership positions at Arvind Fashions Limited, serving as CEO and COO. He led significant turnarounds across key lifestyle brands, driving market share expansion, profitability, and operational efficiencies. His tenure at Raymond Limited saw him develop strong regional market penetration and modern trade initiatives across South India. Known for his sharp business acumen, Rakesh also contributes as an early-stage investor and mentor, supporting innovation and sustainable retail practices.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and Osmania University, Rakesh brings strategic insight and operational rigor to his new role. His appointment is expected to further strengthen Pepe Jeans India’s positioning in the premium fashion segment while deepening its engagement with digitally savvy, style-conscious consumers.
