Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, November 2025 — Optum, a part of UnitedHealth Group and a global leader in health services innovation, has announced the appointment of Rene Sorbel, CPPM, as Associate Director – People Business Partner, supporting the OptumHealth team. Rene brings over two decades of experience across people leadership, talent acquisition, business operations, and program management within the healthcare and retail sectors.
Rene has been a valued member of UnitedHealth Group since 2016, most recently serving as Associate Director – Talent Acquisition Services, where she led strategic hiring initiatives, workforce planning, and talent engagement programs across multiple business units. Her leadership was instrumental in optimizing recruitment processes and strengthening talent alignment with organizational goals.
Earlier, she held key roles within Optum, including Director of Business Operations and Program Manager, where she managed cross-functional teams, drove operational efficiency, and spearheaded high-impact initiatives supporting over 200 professionals within Optum Operations. Her proven ability to translate strategy into measurable results has earned her recognition as a trusted people leader and collaborator across the organization.
Before joining Optum, Rene built a strong foundation in operations and human resources during her ten-year tenure at Target Corporation, where she served in various leadership roles including Store Director and Assistant Manager, overseeing large-scale business operations, HR management, and customer experience. Her time at Target honed her skills in team development, employee engagement, and performance optimization — capabilities that continue to define her leadership style.
In her new role as Associate Director – People Business Partner, Rene will focus on strengthening people strategy, talent engagement, and workforce development across OptumHealth. Her leadership will be pivotal in supporting Optum’s mission to make healthcare simpler, more effective, and more accessible for all.
