Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, India, February 2026 —Rishi Pathania has been appointed as Vice President and Head – CSR at Jindal Steel Ltd. This appointment reflects his extensive leadership in corporate social responsibility, sustainability strategy, and stakeholder engagement across global markets.
In his current role at Jindal Steel Ltd., Rishi leads CSR strategy, implementation, and community engagement initiatives, aligning the company’s social impact programmes with broader ESG and sustainability goals. He is responsible for driving structured, measurable, and impactful interventions that support inclusive growth and long-term community development.
Prior to joining Jindal Steel, Rishi served as Global Head (VP) – CSR at UPL, where he spearheaded global CSR programmes across India, Latin America, and Africa. During his 13-year tenure at UPL, he led end-to-end CSR strategy design and implementation, global project management, ESG integration (as lead for social), stakeholder engagement, business-linked CSR initiatives, and national-level advocacy. He also held Director and Trustee roles across multiple foundations and trusts, strengthening governance and impact measurement frameworks.
Earlier, he was Head CSR – Chemical Business at Tata Chemicals Ltd, where he developed and executed comprehensive CSR strategies aligned with business objectives. His work included lifecycle project management, UN Global Compact and GRI reporting, stakeholder engagement, branding and communication, and strengthening community satisfaction and social responsibility indices.
Rishi began his leadership journey in the development sector, serving as CEO (after joining as Programme Manager) at the Society for Development of Appropriate Technology (SOTEC), where he drove community development programmes focused on women’s empowerment, livelihoods, health, sanitation, and capacity building. He also held leadership roles at International Development Enterprises (iDE), contributing to rural development, irrigation technology dissemination, and socio-economic impact initiatives.
With nearly three decades of experience spanning corporate CSR, ESG integration, sustainability governance, and grassroots development, Rishi’s appointment marks a significant milestone in Jindal Steel’s commitment to responsible growth and sustainable impact.
