Greater London, England, United Kingdom, June 2024 – Rob Shipman has joined Wimbledon as the new Head of HR Operations. Rob brings over 15 years of extensive experience in human resources and strategic leadership to this new role, ready to enhance HR functions across multiple regions.
Rob Shipman has been with Wimbledon for over eight years. Prior to his current role, he served as the Senior HR Business Partner for five years. In this position, he led the business partnering function, partnered his own portfolio of directors and leaders, and oversaw the seasonal recruitment of approximately 1,750 temporary staff across key operational areas such as Guest Services, Operations, Transport, and Court Services. He also managed the day-to-day HR operations for the year-round business, which includes around 450 employees.
Before that, Rob was the HR Manager/Business Partner at Wimbledon for three years. His responsibilities included partnering with key stakeholders and business managers, providing coaching and support to internal stakeholders, and managing the recruitment process for around 800 temporary staff to support The Championships. His generalist HR work was crucial in enabling the business to succeed.
Prior to joining Wimbledon, Rob worked at TUI for over six years. He started as a Resort Team Manager, then moved on to become a Product Implementation Manager, and finally served as an HR Advisor/Senior HR Advisor. In these roles, he was responsible for supporting strategic growth and implementation plans, quality management of third-party suppliers, and providing HR support and advice.
