Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, April 2026 – YES BANK has announced the appointment of S. Anantharaman as Chief Risk Officer (CRO). With over three decades of experience across leading financial institutions, he brings deep expertise in enterprise risk management, credit strategy, and regulatory governance, further strengthening the bank’s risk leadership framework.
In his new role as Chief Risk Officer at YES BANK, S. Anantharaman will lead the bank’s risk management strategy, governance frameworks, and regulatory alignment, ensuring a robust and forward-looking risk architecture to support sustainable growth.
Prior to this, he served as Group Chief Risk Officer at Jio Financial Services, where he was responsible for implementing and monitoring enterprise-wide risk frameworks, ensuring both financial and non-financial risks were effectively managed within defined risk appetite, while enhancing organizational resilience.
Earlier, as Chief Risk Officer at Bank of Baroda, he led a transformation of the bank’s risk organization from a compliance-led approach to a proactive risk management model, contributing to significant improvements in asset quality and profitability. He also played a key role across critical board-level committees including risk, credit, audit, and ALCO.
He also held senior leadership roles at HDFC Bank, including Joint Head – Wholesale Credit Risk and later Executive Vice President, where he managed large corporate and mid-market credit portfolios across India and international markets, driving strong portfolio quality and risk governance.
Earlier in his career, he served as Group Chief Risk Officer at L&T Financial Services, leading enterprise-wide risk functions across credit, market, and operational risk, while also contributing to strategic decision-making at the group level.
His global exposure includes roles at Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait, Commercial Bank of Kuwait, Gulf Bank, and Société Générale, where he built strong foundations in risk modeling, credit assessment, and regulatory frameworks. He began his career with IDBI Bank and Larsen & Toubro, gaining early experience in corporate banking and financial operations.
