Sam Mill Appointed as Executive Director, People & Performance at the SACE Board

Adelaide, South Australia, October 2025 — The SACE Board of South Australia has announced the promotion of Sam Mill to Executive Director, People & Performance. In this strategic leadership role, Sam will be accountable to the Chief Executive for driving organizational excellence across people and culture, financial and commercial strategy, procurement, ICT, and audit and risk management. His mandate centers on strengthening the SACE Board’s operational and cultural framework while aligning performance systems with its educational mission.

Sam brings nearly two decades of diverse leadership experience spanning government, health, and education sectors. He has been with the SACE Board for close to two years, previously serving as Director, People & Performance, where he led initiatives in people management, financial planning, service improvement, and corporate governance. His tenure has been marked by an emphasis on collaboration, organizational alignment, and public value creation.

Before joining the SACE Board, Sam served as Sales Operations Manager at Vocus, where he partnered with business leaders to strengthen operational governance and streamline delivery from sales to implementation. Prior to that, he held multiple leadership positions at SA Health, including Director, Business Performance & Operational Services, and earlier, Assistant Director, Commercial Management, where he played a key role in financial and operational management for Digital Health SA.

Earlier in his public sector career, Sam worked with Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA) as Manager, Financial Services, and at SA Water as Business Analyst/Management Accountant, where he honed his expertise in financial strategy, business analysis, and continuous improvement.

In addition to his executive roles, Sam also contributes to the community as a Board Member at Regional Development Australia Adelaide Metro and Deputy Chair at Eldercare Inc., where he provides governance leadership and strategic direction to these organizations.

About the SACE Board

The SACE Board of South Australia is the statutory authority responsible for the accreditation of subjects, recognition of learning, and assessment of student achievement as part of the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). With a dedicated team of approximately 80 professionals, the Board works closely with schools, educators, and policymakers to ensure the SACE framework continues to meet evolving educational standards and learner needs.

Through its focus on innovation, inclusion, and excellence in education, the SACE Board continues to strengthen South Australia’s reputation as a leader in quality secondary education and equitable learning outcomes.
