San Francisco, California, United States, April 2025 – Sarah Caravalho Khan has taken on the role of Vice President, People Operations and Talent Management at Codexis, Inc. In this expanded leadership position, she will be responsible for driving the company’s people strategy, overseeing talent acquisition, employee development, organizational effectiveness, and the evolution of talent processes to support Codexis’ innovation-centric culture.
Before this promotion, Sarah was serving as Senior Director, Talent Management at Codexis for approximately 8 months, where she played a crucial role in aligning talent strategies with business priorities. Her work focused on leadership development, succession planning, learning and development, and enhancing the employee experience.
Previously, she was Vice President and Head of Human Resources at Vaxart, Inc., where she built and led the HR function during a critical growth phase for the clinical-stage biotech company. Her initiatives supported employee culture, talent strategy, and operational excellence in a highly regulated environment.
Prior to that, she spent nearly 7 years at Align Technology, where she held roles including Director of Global Culture Transformation and Director, Talent Development and Performance. There, she led global development programs, performance management systems, and employee experience strategies aligned with rapid organizational growth.
Earlier in her career, Sarah held HR leadership positions at Varian Medical Systems, West Valley-Mission Community College District, and San Jose State University, where she oversaw key programs in employee relations, organizational development, talent strategy, and workforce planning. She also served as an advisor and board member at institutions like University of San Francisco and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, reflecting her commitment to leadership development and alumni engagement.
