Kariega, Eastern Cape, South Africa, November 2025 — Satish Ranchod has been appointed as the Human Resources Director at Volkswagen Group Africa, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished journey of nearly 36 years with the organisation. As he steps into this strategic leadership role and joins the Board of Management, he will oversee HR strategy, governance, compensation, benefits, and people-centric policies that advance Volkswagen Group Africa’s long-standing commitment to operational excellence and employee wellbeing.

In his most recent role, Ranchod served as Head of Compensation & Benefits, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening reward frameworks, enhancing governance systems, and shaping benefits structures that aligned people strategy with organisational priorities. His work contributed meaningfully to Volkswagen’s continued reputation as an employer of choice in South Africa and the broader region.

Before this, he led as Head of Governance, Compensation & Benefits, contributing to enterprise-wide governance improvements and ensuring robust oversight across key people-related systems. His deep involvement in pension and provident fund committees, risk and insurance governance, and joint union-management forums showcased his ability to blend financial stewardship with employee-centred decision-making.

Earlier in his tenure, he served for many years as Remuneration & Benefits Manager, building a strong foundation in HR strategy, policy, and compensation management. His extensive experience also includes impactful roles as Employee Benefits Specialist, Sales Forecasting Supervisor, Supervisor – HR Administration, and Compensation Consultant, each adding to his strong understanding of organisational design, workforce planning, and stakeholder engagement.

Ranchod began his career at Volkswagen as an EDP Auditor, gaining early insight into financial controls, governance practices, and systems thinking—skills that later strengthened his HR leadership across the organisation. Over the decades, he also represented VWGA in the Automobile Manufacturers Employer Organisation (AMEO) collective bargaining process, where he led financial modelling efforts for several years, reinforcing his reputation as a trusted expert in negotiations and modelling-based workforce planning.

Ranchod holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Processing from Rhodes University, an academic foundation that shaped his analytical and systems-driven approach to HR. He further enhanced his leadership and global business exposure through the Volkswagen Group Junior Executive Programme at Ashridge Business School, London. In addition, he is a Certified Internal Auditor through the Institute of Internal Auditors (USA) and an Associate Principal Executive Officer with the Council of Retirement Funds South Africa, reflecting his expertise in governance and retirement fund management.
