Scotiabank has appointed Ryan Pickard as Head of Investment Banking Upstream U.S., a key role within its Global Banking and Markets division, effective immediately. With a seasoned background in the energy investment sector, Pickard is set to enhance Scotiabank’s services to oil and gas clients in the United States, focusing particularly on mergers and acquisitions along with capital markets transactions.
Pickard’s appointment comes as part of Scotiabank’s strategy to drive sustainable and profitable growth, with a disciplined focus on capital allocation in priority markets.
“Ryan will lead Scotiabank’s coverage of our Upstream oil and gas clients in the U.S., notably on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions. Ryan Pickard joins Scotiabank with extensive experience, having previously held a pivotal role as Managing Director at Credit Suisse in Houston, where he oversaw significant energy investment banking activities. His career in investment banking spans over 13 years, during which he has progressed through major roles from Associate to Managing Director, demonstrating a robust track record in the sector. During his tenure, he was instrumental in managing a substantial portfolio and driving significant growth in their energy sector engagements.
Prior to Credit Suisse, Pickard held progressively senior positions at major financial firms, including as Director and then Vice President at the same institution, where he developed a deep understanding of the complexities of energy markets and honed his skills in strategic financial management.
