Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, September 2025 – Sean Phaler has stepped into the role of Chief Marketing Officer at Blumenthal Arts, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit arts organizations. In this strategic leadership position, Sean will oversee marketing, ticketing, sales, and audience engagement across a portfolio of 1,000+ annual events, including the Carolinas’ largest Broadway season and the Charlotte International Arts Festival. His focus will be on brand storytelling, marketing innovation, and community engagement to elevate Blumenthal’s mission and impact.
Prior to joining Blumenthal Arts, Sean Phaler served as Senior Director of Digital Marketing and Head of International Expansion at Carolina Panthers. Over nearly six years, he redefined marketing as a revenue-generating function and led the Panthers’ expansion into Germany through the NFL Global Markets Program. He also built a marketing attribution model and pioneered innovative partnership revenue models while concurrently leading digital marketing for Charlotte FC.
Earlier in 2020, Sean briefly held the role of Global Director of Digital Marketing at Trane Technologies, where he contributed to the launch of the newly separated $14 billion brand and led the creation of its global website. Before that, he served as Global Director of Digital Marketing at Ingersoll Rand, leading a dual global Center of Excellence across demand generation and digital marketing.
In his previous role as Manager of Digital Innovation at Pentair, Sean spearheaded the digital transformation of their e-commerce properties, developed award-nominated websites, and executed high-impact SEO, PPC, email, and Amazon campaigns. His initiatives consistently drove revenue growth, with PentairAES.com seeing 20% YoY gains for four consecutive years.
Sean’s career began in sports marketing as Interactive Media Manager for the Charlotte Hornets, where he significantly expanded the team’s digital footprint and led the digital transition during the team’s rebranding. He also ran his own digital design business and held marketing roles in e-commerce and education earlier in his career.
