Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, September 2025 — Shoppers Stop has announced the appointment of Nabamita Banerjee as its new Chief Human Resource Officer and Customer Care Associate, effective September 1. With over 18 years of experience across IT, retail, and QSR industries, Banerjee brings deep expertise in talent management, compensation & benefits, HR operations, diversity & inclusion, and change management. In her new role, she will focus on driving people-first strategies to support Shoppers Stop’s growth and innovation agenda.
Prior to this, Banerjee served as Head of Human Resources at Tata Starbucks, where she led HR strategy, people development, and employee engagement across the company’s India operations. Over more than a decade with the organisation, she progressed through multiple leadership roles including Lead – Partner Resources and Senior Manager – Human Resources, building a robust people agenda that supported business expansion and talent retention.
Earlier in her career, she gained international retail experience at the Apparel Group in Dubai as Assistant Manager HR, where she worked on employee relations, compensation, HR operations, and policy design for a global fashion retailer with a portfolio of over 50 international brands.
Before that, Banerjee spent close to five years with Patni Computer Systems in India, where she contributed to global HR operations, international policy frameworks, compensation management, payroll, and employee engagement. Her foundation in IT and services gave her a strong grounding in process-driven HR excellence.
Armed with a background in engineering and HR, and a proven leadership track record, Nabamita Banerjee is poised to strengthen Shoppers Stop’s people practices and support its transformation into a customer-first, digitally enabled retailer.
