Brisbane, Queensland, Australia – November 2024 – Simon Washington has recently taken on the role of Vice President, Traffic Safety & Operations at Transoft Solutions Inc., a global leader in transportation software solutions. His appointment follows an impressive tenure in the transportation and mobility sector, where he has pioneered advancements in video analytics and traffic safety solutions.
Simon joins Transoft Solutions Inc. from his previous role as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Advanced Mobility Analytics Group (AMAG), where he spent over five years spearheading strategic direction and growth. Under his leadership, AMAG’s products became instrumental in reducing traffic congestion and enhancing road safety, contributing to the broader goal of making travel safer and more efficient.
Before AMAG, Simon served as a Professor at the University of Queensland for nearly four years, overseeing the School of Civil Engineering’s operations, budgeting, and strategic functions. The school is globally recognized, attracting top researchers and students in multiple engineering disciplines, including transport and civil engineering.
Simon’s expertise in transport and road safety is also rooted in his extensive experience at Queensland University of Technology as the Professor & Transport and Main Roads Chair. In this role, he collaborated with government, industry, and academia to address critical transport issues, focusing on safety, sustainability, and human behavior.
Additionally, Simon held the position of Director at the Safe Transportation Research & Education Center (SAFETREC) at UC Berkeley, where he played a significant role in expanding research capabilities and fostering impactful relationships with safety-related agencies in California.
