Chingford, England, United Kingdom, March 2025 – Steve Williams has joined The Scouts as Interim Chief People Officer, bringing extensive leadership experience in human resources, organizational development, and people strategy. In this role, he will focus on enhancing HR operations, fostering an inclusive workplace culture, and supporting The Scouts’ mission to develop young people with essential life skills. With a career spanning several leading non-profits and charitable organizations, Williams is well-positioned to drive HR transformation and leadership development at The Scouts.
Before joining The Scouts, Steve Williams served as Interim Head of Human Resources at The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, where he led the HR function while supporting the charity’s mission of raising vital funds for cancer care and research. His leadership during this tenure was particularly impactful, as he navigated complex HR challenges in the nonprofit sector.
Prior to that, Williams was Interim Director of People & Culture at Norwood, where he played a key role in driving strategic HR initiatives, change management, and cultural transformation. His expertise in organizational development and workforce planning helped strengthen the HR framework of one of the UK’s leading social care charities.
Earlier, Williams held the role of Interim Director of People & Organisational Development at Versus Arthritis, where he led human resources, diversity & inclusion, volunteer development, and internal communications. His efforts significantly enhanced employee engagement and streamlined HR processes to support the organization’s growth.
Previously, he spent over five years at Speech and Language UK as Director of People & Corporate Services, where he oversaw HR operations, finance, strategic planning, and governance. He was responsible for ensuring HR best practices across the organization’s schools, advisory services, and social enterprises.
