Subramanian Sarma Elevated to Deputy Managing Director and President at Larsen & Toubro

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, March 2025 – Subramanian Sarma has been elevated to the position of Deputy Managing Director and President at Larsen & Toubro (L&T), effective April 2, 2025. The board has also approved the extension of his tenure as Wholetime Director until February 3, 2028, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming AGM. The announcement signals a strategic move by L&T to bolster its leadership as the company continues to scale globally across its engineering, construction, and energy sectors.

Subramanian Sarma currently serves as Wholetime Director and President – Energy at Larsen & Toubro, where he has played a pivotal role in expanding and transforming the company’s hydrocarbon and energy business. He has been on the L&T Board since 2015, contributing to strategic decisions that have propelled the company’s global competitiveness and innovation in energy infrastructure.

Prior to joining L&T, Sarma served as Managing Director at Petrofac, a leading global EPC contractor, where he spent over 14 years managing the Onshore EPC business with full P&L responsibility. His leadership in this role was instrumental in establishing Petrofac as a significant player in the Middle East and global energy markets.

Sarma brings with him over 40 years of industry experience, including three decades in the Middle East, where he built deep expertise across project execution, engineering, and large-scale operations. His academic credentials include a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from LIT, Nagpur and IIT, Powai, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class.
