Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, October 2025 – Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today announced that Sudeep Kunnumal has formally assumed the role of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), succeeding Milind Lakkad, who has superannuated. This marks the completion of a transition first announced in March 2025, when Kunnumal was designated CHRO-Designate.
Kunnumal’s most recent role at TCS was as Global Head of Human Resources for Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), based in Chennai, where since 2019 he has overseen the talent strategies of one of the company’s largest business verticals. Prior to this, from 2016 to 2019, he served as Director of HR for Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, where he was responsible for shaping HR strategy and operations across the region. Earlier, he held leadership positions such as Head of Talent Acquisition – India, and Head of HR – Europe, based in Amsterdam, driving critical workforce initiatives in talent development and employee engagement.
In the mid-2000s, Kunnumal was based in Washington, D.C., where he served as Head of Immigration for North America, strengthening compliance and mobility processes for TCS employees in the region. His long association with TCS began in September 2000, when he joined as Human Resources Manager in Chennai, laying the foundation for a global career that has spanned more than two decades within the organization.
Before joining TCS, Kunnumal began his HR career in 1995 at Indo Matsushita Appliances as Senior Personnel Officer and later moved to Petro Araldite, where he served as Head of HR for two years. He holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in Personnel Management from Madurai Kamaraj University.
TCS congratulated Kunnumal on his new role and expressed confidence that his deep HR domain experience and global exposure will further strengthen the company’s people-centric leadership culture.
