Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, December 2025 — Vodafone Idea Limited has appointed Sugata Roy as Vice President – Circle HR Head, based in Bengaluru. In this role, he will lead the HR agenda at the circle level, supporting people strategy, workforce effectiveness, and business continuity for one of India’s largest telecom operations.
Sugata Roy brings over a decade of progressive HR leadership experience across telecom, automotive, logistics, retail, and FMCG sectors. His appointment comes at a critical time as Vodafone Idea continues to strengthen its organizational resilience, operational effectiveness, and people capabilities in a highly competitive telecom landscape.
Prior to joining Vodafone Idea, he was associated with Hero MotoCorp for several years as Lead HRBP – Commercial Business & HR Digital Transformation, where he led HR business partnering for India and global businesses, including the Harley Davidson portfolio. In this role, he played a key part in driving HR digital transformation initiatives alongside strategic HR leadership for commercial functions.
Before Hero MotoCorp, Sugata Roy spent multiple years at VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV), where he held roles as Lead HRBP & COE – Talent Management and earlier as Regional HRBP – East. During this phase, he managed HR business partnering for large sales and marketing workforces, led talent management and succession planning initiatives, and supported HR operations across multiple regions.
Earlier in his career, he worked with TM International Logistics Ltd. (a subsidiary of Tata Steel) in Corporate HR, handling end-to-end talent acquisition, HR policy implementation, compensation and benefits administration, and HR metrics. His foundational HR experience also includes roles at Madura Fashion & Lifestyle (Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd.) and Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt. Ltd., where he supported regional HR operations, recruitment, compensation administration, and employee engagement initiatives.
