New Delhi, Delhi, India, March 2025 – Sumeet Singh, who currently serves as General Counsel & Head of Corporate Affairs at BharatPe, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Unity Small Finance Bank as a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director. He joins the Board in the capacity of RIPL Nominee Director, further strengthening the strategic collaboration between BharatPe and Unity Bank.
As a seasoned legal leader, Sumeet Singh brings with him over 15 years of rich experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity, and Venture Capital, having previously been a Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. At BharatPe, one of India’s leading fintech companies, he continues to drive the legal, regulatory, compliance, and corporate affairs functions, while working closely with the Board and key investors on strategic initiatives.
Sumeet’s excellence has been recognized across the legal community with prestigious accolades such as BW Legal World Top 100 GC Power List 2023, 40 Under 40 Club of Lawyers by BW Legal, and the ‘Best In-House Counsel’ award in the Fintech category by India Business Law Journal (IBLJ). He has also been honored by Legal Era as ‘India’s Finest & Leading General Counsel of the Year (Fintech)’, and featured in the Forbes Legal Power List 2021 as one of India’s top General Counsels.
This new appointment at Unity Bank further deepens the relationship between BharatPe and the bank, which was co-founded through a collaboration between Resilient Innovations (BharatPe) and Centrum Financial Services. As a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director, Sumeet Singh will play a crucial advisory role in shaping the governance, compliance, and long-term strategic vision of the bank.
