Kathmandu, Bagmati, Nepal, November 2025 — Sushan Thapa has been appointed as the Head of the Human Resources Department at Nepal Micro Insurance Company Ltd. (NMIC). In this strategic leadership role, he will oversee human capital development, organization culture, and workforce capability building to strengthen the company’s mission of expanding microinsurance accessibility across Nepal.
Sushan has been an integral part of Nepal Micro Insurance Company Ltd. for nearly three years. Before stepping into his new HR leadership position, he served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), where he spearheaded the company’s digital transformation journey. His initiatives included implementing modern IT systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading automation and integration projects that enhanced NMIC’s operational efficiency and service delivery. His ability to align digital transformation with organizational strategy positioned him as a key contributor to the company’s growth and modernization.
Prior to joining NMIC, Sushan worked with Rastriya Beema Company Ltd., a Government of Nepal undertaking, as Deputy Manager, where he led the IT Department’s initiatives for system upgrades, network security, and infrastructure development. He played a crucial role in implementing mission-critical applications to support nationwide insurance operations, ensuring data reliability and robust security.
Earlier, he contributed to the Ministry of Agricultural Development under the Agriculture and Food Security Project as an IT Officer, where he developed and managed the Project Management Information System (PMIS) to support monitoring and evaluation. He also led capacity-building programs and IT training across regional offices.
Sushan began his career as a Software Engineer at Danfe Solution Pvt. Ltd., where he developed online and mobile applications using PHP, Java, and database systems like MySQL and SQL Server. He also served at the University Grants Commission (UGC) as an EMIS Assistant, contributing to the design and implementation of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) for higher education institutions in Nepal.
Sushan holds an Executive MBA in Project Management from the Kathmandu University School of Management, where he developed a strong foundation in strategic leadership and organizational management.
