Singapore, October 2025 – DayOne, a next-generation digital infrastructure provider, has appointed Szen Chew as Global Head of Talent Acquisition. In this strategic leadership role, Szen will be responsible for driving global hiring strategies, scaling talent acquisition operations, and aligning workforce planning with DayOne’s rapid expansion across key Asian markets and beyond.
Prior to joining DayOne, Szen Chew spent over 15 years at Ciena, where he played a pivotal role in building and transforming the company’s global talent acquisition function. As Director, Global Talent Acquisition, he led hiring across 40+ countries, restructured the TA model into Attract, Source, and Recruit verticals, and introduced sourcing automation and advanced analytics to build proactive pipelines for niche talent. His efforts drove major efficiency improvements in hiring time, cost, and quality, while positioning TA as a business-aligned growth enabler.
Earlier at Ciena, Szen served as Senior Manager, Global Talent Acquisition, where he established the global sourcing function and embedded data-driven strategies across APAC and EMEA. He notably reduced agency costs by 50% and led recruitment efforts during new market expansions, bringing agility and scale to talent acquisition.
Before that, he held roles including Talent Acquisition Leader EMEA & APAC and Talent Acquisition Specialist, where he built Ciena’s first in-house sourcing team, led senior and executive hiring across multiple geographies, and designed regional employer branding campaigns to boost talent engagement.
Szen’s talent journey began with Paradigm Recruitment, where he served for over three years as Executive Search Consultant, delivering recruitment solutions across the tech and telecom sectors for major clients such as Cisco, Ciena, Nokia, and Huawei. His consultative approach, combined with strong client relationships, enabled him to support high-volume, complex hiring across EMEA.
