Technical Fibre Products Ltd (TFP), a globally recognized leader in the manufacturing of advanced materials for use in composites and future energy applications, proudly announces the appointment of Dr. David Hodgson as the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In his new capacity, Dr. Hodgson will helm the Global Advanced Materials Innovation Group, working closely with TFP’s leadership team to execute the company’s visionary innovation and growth strategies.

Dr. Hodgson’s transition to the role of CTO at TFP is marked by his rich background as the Founder and Managing Director of TFP Hydrogen, formerly known as PV3, a venture he established in 2011 and which became part of James Cropper PLC in 2021. Under his leadership, TFP Hydrogen has been at the forefront of providing efficient solutions to PEM electrolyser manufacturers and has introduced a series of innovative solutions for water electrolysis. His appointment as CTO is a testament to TFP’s dedication to pioneering innovative technologies and transformative advancements in the fields of future energy and composites.
With an illustrious career spanning over three decades in industrial electrochemistry, Dr. Hodgson has made significant contributions to the development and commercialization of a variety of electrochemical technologies. His expertise encompasses a wide range of areas including electrolysis, flow batteries, molten salt electrochemistry, fuel cells, and water treatment. Dr. Hodgson’s achievements in the field have been recognized with several honors, notably the Castner Medal awarded by the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) Electrochemical Technology group, reflecting his status as an authority in applied electrochemistry.
A Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Dr. Hodgson has played an instrumental role in the hydrogen industry, offering his expertise through advisory roles and collaborations with the Department for International Trade to enrich the UK’s energy sector. Additionally, his involvement as a visiting Professor at the Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University underscores his commitment to identifying and advancing new technologies in fuel cell and water electrolysis.
