Bentonville, Arkansas, United States, December 2025 – Thomas Thornton has joined Walmart as Head of Talent Management, Sam’s Club, where he will be responsible for shaping talent strategy, leadership development, and succession planning for one of the largest warehouse retail chains in the world. Based in Bentonville, Arkansas, Thomas brings a rich background in talent strategy, executive development, and AI-integrated HR practices.
Prior to joining Walmart, Thomas Thornton served as Senior Director of Talent Management & Learning at Comcast, leading talent strategies for 9,000 headquarters employees in Comcast’s $45B+ consumer division. He implemented innovative, AI-driven succession planning simulations, launched executive mentorship programs, and created a high-impact coaching framework. His efforts resulted in over 300 high-potential leaders being identified and retained with a 99% success rate.
Earlier at Comcast, Thomas held the role of Senior Director of Talent Acquisition & Talent Management, where he developed a centralized TA strategy, launched Comcast’s internal talent marketplace—Career Hub—and pioneered a diversity hiring strategy that boosted underrepresented hiring by 7%. His initiatives significantly improved hiring efficiency and employee mobility.
Before this, he served as Director of Talent Strategy & Talent Management, where he introduced programs like “Gig” to align talent capacity with business-critical projects and led enterprise-wide strategic workforce planning. He also conceptualized Comcast’s Candidate Net Promoter Score (NPS) framework.
In previous roles at Comcast Business and Comcast HQ, Thomas led talent acquisition teams, built strategies for high-volume and technical hiring, managed workforce segmentation, and supported enterprise growth through strategic hiring for M&A initiatives. His earlier roles included Corporate Recruiter at Burlington Coat Factory, Executive Recruiter at Tri-Worth Solutions, and Account Manager at CareerBuilder, laying the foundation for a strong, consultative HR leadership style.
