Wellington, New Zealand, July 2024 – Toni Grimshaw has been appointed to the role of Chief People, Safety, and Wellbeing Officer at New Zealand Rugby (NZR). Toni is an accomplished HR leader with a proven track record of creating highly engaged teams, building strong relationships, and delivering exceptional People, Safety, and Wellbeing services within large private and public sector organizations. She also has extensive experience in developing and implementing business strategies. Toni has joined NZR from her previous role as Chief People Officer at Crown Law.
Toni Grimshaw brings a wealth of experience in human resources and organizational development to her new role at New Zealand Rugby. Prior to this, she served as the Chief People Officer at Crown Law, where she led the people strategy for nearly two years. Before her tenure at Crown Law, she spent over four years at the Ministry of Justice – New Zealand as the Director of People Operations and Manager of HR Business Partnering, where she oversaw significant HR functions and initiatives.
Earlier in her career, Toni was the People Business Partner at GHD and the Human Resources/Organizational Development Manager at Plymouth City Council in the United Kingdom. Her experience also includes roles as Human Resources Manager at ANZCO Foods, Account & Brand Manager at MANAWATU KNITTING MILLS LTD, and Human Resources & Office Manager at One 4 All (2004) Ltd. Additionally, she began her career as an International Flight Attendant with Air New Zealand.
New Zealand Rugby (NZR) is one of New Zealand’s largest sports organizations, dedicated to leading, supporting, growing, and promoting the game of rugby in New Zealand. With offices in Wellington and Auckland, NZR manages national teams, oversees national and international competitions, and supports community rugby across the country. NZR works closely with its members, including all 26 Provincial Unions, Super Rugby organizations, and various commercial and charity partners, as well as international rugby bodies and stakeholders such as the New Zealand Government.
