Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, September 2024 – Varsha Chainani has been appointed as the Senior Vice President and Group Head of Corporate Communications and Brand at Vedanta Group.
In her new role, Varsha will be responsible for overseeing Vedanta’s global corporate communications and brand strategy, driving reputation management, crisis communications, and brand-building initiatives for the group. Her expertise will be instrumental in strengthening Vedanta’s corporate brand and aligning its communications strategy with the company’s long-term growth plans.
Prior to joining Vedanta, Varsha Chainani served as the Group Head of Corporate Communications at Adani Group for 2 years and 1 month, where she led strategic communications initiatives across various business sectors of the conglomerate. She played a key role in enhancing Adani’s reputation and handling crisis management, particularly during critical corporate events.
Before her tenure at Adani Group, Varsha spent 6 years and 3 months as Senior Vice President of Group Communications at Mahindra Group, where she led global communication efforts for one of India’s largest conglomerates. Her responsibilities included developing and executing communications strategies that enhanced the corporate brand and managed the reputation of the group across multiple industries and geographies.
Varsha also has significant experience in the healthcare sector, having served as Director of Public Affairs at Abbott Laboratories for 4 years and 8 months. In this role, she established and led the public affairs function in India, focusing on reputation management and strategic communications across the company’s diverse business divisions.
Earlier in her career, Varsha held various leadership positions at IBM, including VP of Integrated Communications for Growth Markets, where she was responsible for managing communications strategies, media relations, and marketing programs in key emerging markets. She also led corporate communications at Indian Hotels Company Limited, and began her professional journey as a Flight Purser with Cathay Pacific Airways.
