Bentonville, Arkansas, United States, January 2026 — Walmart Inc. (Nasdaq: WMT) has announced the appointment of Shishir Mehrotra to its Board of Directors, effective January 2026.
Walmart Inc. has appointed Shishir Mehrotra, Chief Executive Officer of Superhuman (formerly Grammarly), to its Board of Directors. He will serve on the Compensation and Management Development Committee and the Technology and eCommerce Committee, strengthening Walmart’s governance and technology leadership as the company advances its people-led, tech-powered strategy.
Commenting on the appointment, Greg Penner, Chairman of the Walmart Board of Directors, said that Walmart’s focus remains on serving customers through a people-led, tech-powered approach, and that Shishir’s background brings to the boardroom the insight of a proven platform builder with a distinguished track record of scaling platforms relied upon by millions. Randall Stephenson, Lead Independent Director of the Walmart Board, added that Shishir brings a rare combination of technical depth and product leadership, and has helped create and scale platforms that unlock creativity and productivity for people and teams at a global scale.
Expressing his views, Shishir Mehrotra said he has long admired Walmart’s ability to innovate while staying true to its core values, and that joining the Board as the company builds for an agentic AI future represents a rare opportunity. He noted that the current era represents the most significant technological shift he has seen in his career, and that he looks forward to working with the Walmart leadership team to shape the future for the millions of people Walmart serves.
Mehrotra brings over 25 years of technology leadership experience with a track record of building category-defining platforms. Prior to joining Superhuman, he was CEO and Co-founder of Coda, a productivity and AI platform that scaled to serve millions of users and tens of thousands of teams. Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer at YouTube, helping grow YouTube into the world’s largest video destination and one of Google’s largest and fastest-growing businesses, and into a platform of choice for a new generation of creators.
He holds a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
