With an impressive career spanning several industries and roles, Bronwyn brings a wealth of experience in strategic human resources leadership, business transformation, and organizational development. Her expertise will be instrumental in driving Newmont’s people strategy and supporting its growth objectives in the region.
Bronwyn Baker joins Newmont Corporation from Austal, where she served as Vice President People and Culture (interim) for 4 months. At Austal, Bronwyn led the people, culture, and communications functions for the ASX-listed global shipbuilder and defense contractor, managing a workforce of approximately 4,100 employees across multiple countries.
Prior to Austal, Bronwyn was the Chief Corporate Services Officer at DRA Global for nearly 2 years. In this role, she was a member of the Executive Committee and led the corporate services team, including functions such as strategy, ESG/sustainability, information technology, digital transformation, and more. She also served as the Chief People Officer at DRA Global, focusing on strategic HR planning and organizational development.
Bronwyn also held a Portfolio Career for 5 years, providing consulting and interim leadership services in areas such as people and culture, strategy, and transformation to various clients and industries while balancing family responsibilities.
Additionally, she served as the Executive Manager People and Capability (interim) at St John WA, where she delivered key culture projects and upskilled the organization in Change Acceleration Process.
At Rio Tinto, Bronwyn held multiple leadership roles over 6 years, including Manager Transformation and Integration, Manager Business Services, and Principal Strategy and Planning. She was responsible for leading large-scale business transformations, strategic planning, and organizational development.
Her extensive career also includes positions at Macmahon as General Manager People and Culture, and Rio Tinto Iron Ore as Manager Human Resources and Director Organisational Effectiveness/Acting HR VP.
