Lusaka, Zambia, September 2024 – Owen Katongo Kabanda has been appointed as the Head of Human Capital at Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). In his new role, Owen will lead IDC’s human capital strategies, driving alignment between organizational objectives and human resource functions across IDC’s subsidiaries and investment projects.
Owen brings over six years of experience at IDC, where he most recently served as the Deputy Head of Human Capital. During his tenure in this role, he provided critical human resource advisory services to IDC subsidiaries, facilitated HR audits, revised organizational structures, and led executive recruitments. His strategic contributions significantly improved HR operations, talent acquisition, and compliance across the IDC portfolio.
Before his promotion, Owen served as the Senior Human Capital Officer at IDC for over three years. In this role, he focused on ensuring timely recruitment and retention strategies, fostering employee engagement, and embedding a high-performance culture. His efforts were integral to supporting the corporation’s growth objectives and managing HR processes for various subsidiaries.
Prior to joining IDC, Owen held the position of Human Resources Manager at Mota-Engil Zambia, a global construction company. During his three-year tenure, he successfully developed HR policies, ensured compliance with labor laws, and managed HR audits. His leadership played a key role in optimizing HR operations for the company’s workforce of over 1,600 employees.
Owen’s career in HR also includes his work as the Human Resources Manager at Entrepreneurs Financial Centre (EFC), where he coordinated HR functions for over 260 employees. He implemented various employee performance and recruitment strategies, leading to significant improvements in employee retention and staff training initiatives.
