Denver, Colorado, United States – November 2024 – Jamie Smith has joined Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (CBHA) as the new Chief People Officer. Smith will lead CBHA’s human resources and people operations strategy, supporting its mission to establish an inclusive and people-centered behavioral health system in Colorado. His role will involve championing initiatives that foster a supportive and accessible behavioral health landscape, focusing on building trust and meaningful engagement with communities across Colorado.
Prior to this role, Smith served as the Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer at the Colorado Department of Human Services, where he contributed significantly to employee relations, performance management, and organizational growth. During his seven-year tenure, he advanced through multiple roles, including Employee and Labor Relations Supervisor and HR Business Partner, where he implemented strategies for employee engagement and effective HR practices that contributed to a positive work environment.
Smith’s background also includes over a decade with the US Army, where he held critical roles such as Program Manager for the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) program, focusing on workplace safety and leadership coaching. His responsibilities involved managing compliance, leading investigations, and implementing leadership training programs that positively impacted workplace culture and resilience.
His earlier experience includes roles such as Health and Safety Lead and Operations Manager at Fort Carson, where he directed safety initiatives, conducted risk assessments, and managed wellness programs to promote a balanced work-life environment. Additionally, he served as a Corporate Fellows Intern with Discover Goodwill, enhancing his expertise in training and development within a nonprofit setting.
