Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, December 2024 – Sahar Afkari has been named the Head of People – Country Road at Country Road Group, one of Australia’s leading specialty fashion retailers. In her new role, Sahar will oversee all aspects of the People Function for the iconic Country Road brand, focusing on talent management, leadership development, and fostering an innovative and inclusive workplace culture.
Sahar brings extensive HR leadership experience spanning over two decades. Prior to joining Country Road Group, she served as HR Lead – Technology & Enterprise PMO at Australia Post, where she partnered with senior leaders to drive strategic initiatives across Technology, Digital, Data & AI, and Enterprise PMO functions.

Previously, Sahar worked at fibreHR as an HR & OD Consultant, supporting organizations across various industries in change management, HR strategy, and organizational development. She also held the position of Leadership, Talent and Inclusion Manager at Coles Group, leading talent management and inclusion strategies across the organization.
At Newcrest Mining, Sahar contributed as the Senior Talent Management Manager, where she collaborated with the Executive team to design and implement global talent management strategies, including leadership capability development and succession planning.
Sahar’s early career included impactful roles at EY, where she progressed through several leadership positions, including APAC FSO Advisory HR Leader. She was instrumental in driving strategic people initiatives across eight countries in the Asia-Pacific region, encompassing organization design, talent management, and diversity and inclusion strategies.
