FirstEnergy Names Nick Pearson Vice President, Federal Government Affairs

AKRON, Ohio, United States, April 2025 — FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) has announced the appointment of Nick Pearson as Vice President, Federal Government Affairs, effective April 7, 2025. In this role, Pearson will oversee the company’s Washington, D.C. office and lead its federal engagement strategy on energy policy issues that impact FirstEnergy’s customers, employees, and operations. He will report to Amanda Mertens Campbell, Vice President of External Affairs.

“Nick’s energy industry knowledge, coupled with his years of experience working on Capitol Hill, will be instrumental in advocating for our customers and business as the nation’s energy landscape continues to evolve,” said Campbell. “With his leadership, I’m confident FirstEnergy will help shape federal energy policies that support reliable, affordable energy for our customers.”

Pearson joins FirstEnergy with more than 22 years of experience in government relations, public policy, and business. Most recently, he served as Head of Congressional Affairs for Google Cloud, where he advanced the role of cloud services in AI, energy, and national security. He previously served as Global Head of Energy Policy for Google, working on policy initiatives across energy and sustainability.

Before his time at Google, Pearson led the Washington, D.C. office of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where he was closely involved in policy around nuclear energy, transmission planning, and inter-agency coordination with bodies such as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, U.S. Department of Energy, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Earlier in his career, Pearson was Vice President of Government and Political Affairs for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, advocating for the interests of its 4,500 members. He also worked on several state and federal campaigns and held legislative roles for U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson and members of the Georgia General Assembly.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Speech Communications from Georgia Southern University. His community involvement includes service on the boards of the Georgia State Society, Everybody Wins! DC, and the DC Public Education Foundation Young Professional Committee. He is a member of the National Energy Resources Organization and a volunteer at DC Central Kitchen.
