Prior to joining Borouge, Nikhil Dhar served at Shell for over six years in various senior leadership roles. Most recently, he was Head of India Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff to the Country Chairperson, where he was instrumental in scaling Shell’s India operations through a combination of organic and inorganic growth. He also led the Circular Economy Program, crafting scalable recycling models and enabling Net Zero pathways for key customers. Earlier, as Strategy Lead for Energy Transition, Upstream, and LNG, he guided high-impact projects across Shell’s core business domains, supporting critical M&A and sustainability strategies.

Before Shell, Nikhil was General Manager, Strategy & Planning at Reliance Industries Limited, where he spearheaded strategic initiatives for the petrochemicals vertical, including market forecasting and investment planning in the circular economy. He played a key role in identifying M&A opportunities and aligning operational planning with long-term strategic intent.

Nikhil also spent nearly a decade at GAIL (India) Limited, managing large-scale petrochemical projects and leading initiatives in renewable energy such as rooftop solar. His responsibilities ranged from detailed financial modelling and engineering to contract negotiations and project execution, establishing him as a cross-functional leader.

His foundational experience was shaped by a strong academic background, including an MBA from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, which continues to inform his analytical and strategic approach in the petrochemicals and energy sectors.
