Aggeneys, Northern Cape, South Africa, July 2025 – Vedanta Zinc International has announced the appointment of Van Wyk Raylene as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). In her new role, Raylene will lead strategic HR initiatives across VZI’s operations in South Africa and Namibia, focusing on employee engagement, organizational transformation, and workforce development.

Raylene brings over a decade of experience across mining and municipal sectors. She joins Vedanta Zinc International after more than three years at Kumba, where she held multiple leadership roles including HR Manager, Section Manager HR, and HR Advisor. She played a crucial role in driving workforce effectiveness, engagement structures, and managing employment relations.

Prior to Kumba, Raylene spent over five years at Kumba Iron Ore – Kolomela Mine, where she served as HR and ER Officer. During this tenure, she was responsible for grievance handling, union negotiations, disciplinary hearings, and implementing HR processes related to recruitment, leave management, and employment equity.

Raylene also served at Kai !Garib Municipality for over a year, where she worked as Skills Development and Performance Measuring Officer, helping to design training programs, performance systems, and equity reports. Her experience spans both the private and public sectors, giving her a well-rounded perspective in human resources leadership.

She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from North-West University, as well as a B.Com Honours in Labour Relations from the same institution.
