Ltd. has announced the appointment of Ravi Narayanan as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition following Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group’s complete acquisition of the company. In this role, Narayanan will focus on strengthening asset quality, enhancing profitability, and driving sustainable growth for the NBFC.
Narayanan brings over 25 years of banking experience, having most recently served as Group Executive – Branch Banking, Retail Liabilities, Sales, Premium Banking, Virtual Relationship, and Third-Party Products at Axis Bank. During his tenure, he was also a Nominee Director on the Boards of Axis Direct and Axis Mutual Fund, contributing to strategic governance and business expansion.
Prior to his time at Axis Bank, Narayanan had an illustrious 19-year career at HDFC Bank, where he held the role of Group Head – Branch Banking & Retail Trade FX, overseeing large-scale branch operations, liability product portfolios, and foreign exchange services for retail clients. His leadership played a key role in the bank’s sustained growth and market penetration.
Earlier in his career, Narayanan worked with Bank of America, where he honed his expertise in corporate and retail banking, customer engagement, and operational management. His cross-functional exposure and deep understanding of the Indian financial sector uniquely position him to steer SMFG India Credit through its next phase of growth and transformation.
