Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, August 2025 – Hirdesh Kumar Bansal has been appointed as the new Vice President Operations at Torrent Gas, one of India’s leading City Gas Distribution companies. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing operational efficiency, infrastructure development, and strategic execution across Torrent Gas’s rapidly expanding service regions.
Prior to joining Torrent Gas, Hirdesh Kumar Bansal was associated with GAIL (India) Limited for over three years. Most recently, he served as Executive Director (HR), where he led several HR and people strategy initiatives from the company’s headquarters in New Delhi. Before that, he held the position of Chief General Manager based in Bengaluru, where he managed critical operational and leadership mandates.
Earlier, he held the role of Managing Director at Central U.P. Gas Limited, a joint venture of GAIL, where he steered the company’s strategic expansion and delivery of city gas services across Kanpur and surrounding regions. His leadership there played a crucial role in scaling up operations and strengthening stakeholder relationships.
Prior to this, he was Chief General Manager at GAIL (India) Limited, managing compressor station operations and maintenance of pipeline infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh, based in Dibiyapur. His experience with GAIL spanned a range of operational roles, contributing significantly to the pipeline and distribution network.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, Hirdesh Kumar Bansal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Communications Engineering, bringing a strong technical foundation to his leadership in energy operations.
Torrent Gas, part of the ₹41,000 Crore Torrent Group, is one of India’s foremost City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies. Authorized by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the company provides CNG for vehicles and PNG for households and industries across 34 districts in 7 states and 1 Union Territory.
