Gurugram, Haryana, India, August 2025 — Akshay Rakshit has been appointed Head – Talent Acquisition & Strategy at Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company. In this role, he will drive strategic hiring, policy innovation, employer branding, young talent development, and HR transformation across Hyundai and Genesis brands in India. With more than a decade of progressive HR experience, Akshay brings a unique ability to balance shopfloor realities with boardroom decisions, positioning him to strengthen Hyundai’s people-first agenda in a highly competitive market.
Prior to this appointment, Akshay Rakshit was Human Resource Business Partner at BMW Group India, where he worked closely with the CEO and CHRO India, aligning people strategy with business priorities and talent pipeline planning. He partnered with APAC regional teams on leadership development, performance reviews, and compensation while driving employee engagement and policy innovation. His efforts supported BMW’s record growth in India’s luxury automobile segment.
Before BMW, he served at Maruti Suzuki India Limited as Manager – Central HR and earlier as Deputy Manager – Industrial Relations at the Manesar plant. He played a pivotal role in aligning HR governance post-COVID, overseeing disaster management, HR audits, and policy compliance, while also managing large-scale industrial relations for a workforce of over 3,000 employees. His contributions included long-term settlement negotiations, workforce development, and union engagement.
Earlier, at Honda Cars India Ltd., he worked as Talent Acquisition & Compliance Partner, managing end-to-end recruitment and legal compliance during a period of significant organizational integration. At Exide Industries Limited, he was recognized as a High-Potential Talent and awarded the Best Management Trainee Award (2015–16), later promoted to Assistant Manager – Employee Relations, where he managed union relations, CLRA compliance, and employee engagement at the Chinchwad unit.
Akshay’s early experiences include internships with Grasim Industries Limited (Aditya Birla Group), where he conducted leadership assessments, and Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, where he developed retention and engagement strategies for the sales workforce. Alongside his corporate achievements, he continues to contribute as a guest speaker at B-schools, mentor to young professionals, and advisor to HR councils, bringing Jesuit education values and athletic resilience into his leadership philosophy.
