Los Angeles, California, United States, August 2025 – Roy Chen has been appointed as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Forgent Power, a leading U.S. manufacturer of electrical distribution equipment for data centers, the power grid, and energy-intensive industrial facilities. In his new role, Chen will lead the company’s human capital strategy, talent management, and organizational culture as Forgent continues to expand its footprint across North America with 10 manufacturing campuses.
Before joining Forgent Power, Roy Chen served as Chief Human Resources Officer at MGM Transformers for a year, where he led HR transformation efforts and strengthened workforce capabilities during a period of organizational change.
Previously, Chen spent nearly seven years at Sonendo, Inc. as Chief Talent Officer & Chief Human Resources Officer, where he oversaw HR strategy during the company’s transition from private to public. He successfully managed its IPO, raising $85 million, recruited over 600 employees, revamped the executive team, and led M&A integrations, positioning Sonendo as a leader in dental technology.
Earlier, Chen was Vice President of Human Resources at Nobel Biocare, managing HR for 800 employees across diverse locations. He played a pivotal role in restructuring for expansion, reducing turnover by 50%, and driving five consecutive quarters of profitable growth through talent and organizational development initiatives.
Chen also held senior leadership roles at Sybron Dental Specialties as Executive Vice President of Human Resources, where he integrated five acquisitions, added $100 million in revenue, and implemented the Sybron Leadership University, as well as at Johnson & Johnson, where he served in multiple HR leadership positions, including Worldwide Vice President, Human Resources at Biosense Webster and Vice President, Talent Management – R&D. Across his roles at J&J, he spearheaded global HR initiatives, post-merger integrations, leadership development programs, and cost optimization strategies.
He began his HR leadership journey at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products as Director of Organizational Effectiveness and Organizational Excellence, after starting his career as a Manager of Human Resources in New Jersey.
Roy Chen holds a Master of Science in Management Science from Stevens Institute of Technology and completed Executive Education in Human Resources Management and Services at the University of Michigan – Stephen M. Ross School of Business.
