Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, October 2025 — Sumit Chandna has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Max at Lifestyle International Pvt Ltd, bringing with him over 25 years of extensive experience in the retail sector. In this new role, he will be responsible for driving growth, enhancing customer experiences, and further strengthening Max’s leadership in India’s value fashion market.
Prior to this appointment, Sumit served as Deputy CEO of Max at Landmark Group, where he was instrumental in driving operational excellence and spearheading strategic growth initiatives that strengthened the brand’s positioning in the competitive retail landscape.
Before his tenure with Max, Sumit held leadership roles at Bata India Limited, serving as Senior Vice President and Head of Retail and later as Chief Merchandising Manager. His contributions included building private label programs and optimizing retail formats across categories.
Earlier, he spent over a decade at Aditya Birla Retail Limited, where he rose to the position of Chief Merchandising Officer. During his tenure, he played a key role in developing private labels, implementing category management strategies, and enhancing profitability across the supermarkets business. His leadership also extended to roles as Senior Vice President & Head of Buying and Merchandising and Vice President of FMCG and Private Labels.
Sumit’s career also includes impactful stints at HyperCITY Retail (India) Ltd., Trinethra Super Retail Limited, and Shoppers Stop Ltd. At these organizations, he was instrumental in conceptualizing and launching new retail formats, creating category strategies, and rolling out private label programs across apparel, footwear, home, and FMCG categories.
