Varun Kohli Appointed as Director & Group CEO at Bharat Express

Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, October 2025 – Bharat Express has announced the appointment of Varun Kohli as Director & Group CEO, marking a strategic step toward the company’s next phase of transformation and growth. In his new role, Kohli will lead Bharat Express’ vision to strengthen its leadership in the Indian media ecosystem and drive its mission of delivering unbiased, fact-based journalism under the philosophy of “News More Than Views.”

Before assuming his new position, Varun Kohli served as Chief Operating Officer at Times Network, where he played a critical role in streamlining operations and expanding business growth across broadcast and digital platforms. His leadership contributed to revenue optimization and organizational transformation during his tenure.

Previously, Kohli held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Bharat Express, where he was instrumental in shaping the channel’s market presence and operational foundation. His leadership focus on credibility and agility laid the groundwork for Bharat Express’ continued expansion.

Earlier, as Chief Executive Officer at Sporty Media Solutionz Pvt. Ltd., Kohli led strategic sports initiatives, including managing the sports media platform InsideSport.in. He successfully negotiated its sale to a global digital player, reinforcing the company’s leadership in sports rights management across the Indian subcontinent.

Prior to that, Kohli served as Group CEO at iTV Network (India News & NewsX) for over five years, where he turned the network profitable and established several operational frameworks that improved efficiency, retention, and brand value. He also successfully launched and monetized the Pro Wrestling League within its inaugural year.

Kohli’s earlier career includes leadership roles at CNBC-TV18, Mail Today (India Today Group), Deccan Chronicle Holdings, Amar Ujala, and Hindustan Times, where he consistently demonstrated excellence in revenue growth, turnaround management, and brand expansion. With more than two decades of experience across India’s leading media houses, he brings a proven track record in business transformation, monetization, and strategic leadership.
