In this pivotal role, he will oversee end-to-end product and ads commercialization, global sales enablement, and go-to-market operations, driving Netflix’s continued evolution in the fast-growing ad-supported streaming ecosystem.
With over 15 years of experience spanning digital media, technology, and strategic sales, Varun brings a deep understanding of global advertising markets and product innovation. His expertise in commercial strategy, AI-powered marketing, and data-driven transformation will be instrumental in scaling Netflix’s advertising business across regions.
Prior to joining Netflix, Varun had a remarkable nine-year journey at Google, where he held multiple leadership roles including Managing Director – Product Strategy & Sales Operations, Americas, and Managing Director – YouTube Ads & Commercials Go-To-Market, APAC. During his tenure, he led initiatives that accelerated the adoption of Performance Max, Retail Media, and AI-driven ad solutions, while spearheading large-scale commercialization strategies across global markets.
Before Google, Varun worked at IBM India Private Limited as Product Manager, System p UNIX Servers, where he contributed to enterprise product strategy and market development initiatives. His early work in technology sales laid the foundation for his subsequent global career in digital innovation and go-to-market excellence.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) with an MBA in International Business and Marketing, and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Varun combines a strong analytical mindset with a passion for technology-led growth. His appointment at Netflix reflects the company’s ongoing investment in global leadership talent to shape its advertising future and deliver value for both brands and viewers worldwide.
