Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, October 2025 — Énergie NB Power has announced the appointment of Justin Urquhart as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In his new capacity, Justin will lead NB Power’s financial operations, focusing on fiscal sustainability, strategic planning, and financial performance to support the company’s mission of delivering reliable, safe, and sustainable energy to the people of New Brunswick.
Justin has been an integral part of Énergie NB Power for nearly two years. Prior to assuming the CFO role, he served as Vice President of Finance, where he oversaw financial strategy, reporting, and planning for the organization. His leadership in driving operational efficiency and financial transparency has been instrumental in aligning NB Power’s fiscal goals with its broader sustainability and customer service objectives.
Before joining NB Power, Justin spent over a decade at J.D. Irving, Limited, where he held progressive leadership roles across finance and operations. He served as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Director of Shared Services Operations, and Director of Finance – Corporate Group & External Reporting, demonstrating expertise in financial management, process optimization, and strategic business planning. His tenure at J.D. Irving also included experience as Controller, Forest Products, where he managed financial operations within one of the company’s key verticals.
Earlier in his career, Justin worked as an Experienced Senior Auditor at PwC, followed by roles at RST Sunbury Transport as Senior Business Analyst, gaining foundational experience in financial analysis, audit leadership, and cross-functional business improvement. He also contributed to the non-profit sector as Treasurer for Habitat for Humanity and Embertide Early Learning Centre, where he provided financial stewardship and governance oversight.
Justin holds an MBA in Business Administration and Management from the Ivey Business School at Western University and is widely recognized for his analytical problem-solving skills, strategic acumen, and commitment to community engagement.
