Charlotte, North Carolina, United States, October 2025 — A.P. Moller – Maersk, a global leader in integrated transport and logistics, has appointed Gia V. Estepa as Head of People Function Canada & PMO North America. In this new role, Gia will oversee the people function strategy and program management office for the region, driving transformation, talent development, and operational excellence across Maersk’s North American operations.
Gia has been an integral part of A.P. Moller – Maersk for over five years, holding several key leadership roles that have shaped the company’s people strategy across the Americas. Most recently, she served as Head of People Partnering – North America, where she led strategic people initiatives and workforce alignment across multiple business units. Before that, as Head of Employee Experience – Frontline People Organization North America, she directed people operations for a 10,000+ employee workforce across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, overseeing a 150-member HR team and driving process optimization and digital transformation initiatives.
Earlier, Gia led as Head of Talent & Development for the Americas at Maersk, where she deployed global talent solutions and strengthened the DEI, engagement, and succession planning agenda across the region. Prior to that, as Head of Talent Acquisition for the Americas, she built scalable recruitment models and enhanced Maersk’s talent brand across Latin America.
Before joining Maersk, Gia spent six years with Philips, where she served as Head of Human Resources for Latin America, leading HR transformation programs and organizational design initiatives. She also played a key role in M&A due diligence, ensuring cultural alignment and business continuity during integrations. During her tenure, she also served as HR Director – Training & Competence Development, and Head of Business Transformation & HR Senior Project Manager Latin America, where she implemented Lean methodologies, driving organizational agility and performance improvements.
Gia’s earlier career includes an impactful six-year tenure at Ericsson, where she held multiple HR leadership positions including Head of Talent Acquisition & HR Business Partner – Latin America, and HR BP for Learning & Competence Development. Her initiatives there focused on regional talent strategies, leadership development, and standardizing HR processes across markets. She began her career at Hewlett Packard Enterprise as a Contract Administrator, where she gained foundational experience in operations and human resources.
