Known for her people-first philosophy and strategic HR leadership, Uma Sharma brings deep expertise in business partnering, talent acquisition, diversity initiatives, performance culture, and employee experience transformation. In her new role, she will anchor the organization’s people strategy and help build a stronger, more inclusive, and future-ready workplace.
In her most recent role at PNB Housing Finance Limited, Uma Sharma served for nearly four years, most recently as National Head – Business HR & Talent Acquisition. Across this tenure, she successfully strengthened the company’s operational footprint, optimized talent acquisition models, and played a key role in sustaining superior workforce levels across business functions. She also drove structured onboarding frameworks, recognition programs, and diversity initiatives—including women’s re-entry programs—which significantly contributed to the organization earning consecutive Great Place to Work certifications.
Prior to this, Uma Sharma worked with HDFC ERGO General Insurance as Deputy Vice President – Human Resources, where she collaborated with senior leadership to design and execute HR strategies aligned to business growth. Her contributions spanned talent management, culture building, diversity and inclusion, performance frameworks, employee relations, and leadership development—strengthening the organization’s ability to navigate dynamic business requirements.
Earlier, she held the role of AVP – Human Resources at Apollo Munich Health Insurance Company Ltd., where she led initiatives across talent management, employee engagement, recruitment excellence, and productivity enhancement. She drove multiple learning and engagement platforms, directed the talent acquisition team to achieve over 98% manning, and was recognized for outstanding contributions in HRBP excellence and achievement metrics.
Before Apollo Munich, Uma Sharma spent close to five years with VLCC Health Care Ltd. as General Manager – Human Resources, India Wellness Services, where she boosted HR processes across South Asia Wellness Services and Skill Development businesses. She designed and revamped employee value proposition frameworks, performance systems, employee-friendly benefits, and development initiatives—strengthening capability and operational efficiency across teams.
Her earlier career includes a rich journey of over five years with Max Bupa Health Insurance Co. Ltd. (now Niva Bupa) as General Manager – HR, Zonal HR Manager, and Manager – Corporate HR, where she led end-to-end HR operations, performance management, leadership development, talent acquisition, retention interventions, recruitment toolkits, and capability-building frameworks. Prior to this, she held HR roles at Sony India and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Ltd., where she earned multiple recognitions for operational excellence, competency-based training execution, crisis management contribution, and employer branding initiatives.
Uma Sharma has completed the Senior Management Programme in General Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (HR & Finance) from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning.
