St. Louis, Missouri, United States, November 2025 — Abby Schafers has stepped into the role of Vice President, People and Culture at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, marking a significant return to the institution where she spent nearly seventeen years shaping HR strategy and organizational development. In her newly appointed leadership position, she will oversee people strategy, culture transformation, talent systems, and workforce capability for one of the country’s most influential regional Reserve Banks.
Before rejoining the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Abby served as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Central Bank, where she spent close to three years leading the bank’s HR function. During this tenure, she focused on strengthening people practices, driving talent initiatives, enhancing organizational capability, and supporting leadership development in a rapidly evolving financial services environment.
Prior to Central Bank, Abby held multiple strategic HR leadership roles at Edward Jones, spanning a five-year period. She served as Human Resources Director, Branch Development and, before that, as Human Resources Director, Digital, leading HR for technology, digital product management, and data strategy teams. Her earlier role as Human Resources Business Unit Leader, Digital and later as Human Resources Business Unit Leader, Human Resources helped her establish strong partnerships across business lines, enabling talent initiatives that supported both digital transformation and enterprise HR functions.
Abby’s most extensive career experience was built during her 16 years and 10 months at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, where she rose to the position of Assistant Vice President, Human Resources. She led critical portfolios including organizational development, succession planning, workforce planning, talent management, talent acquisition, compensation, and employee relations. Earlier, as Human Resources Officer, she oversaw the Total Rewards function—benefits, payroll, compensation, leave services—alongside organizational development and employee relations, establishing herself as a deeply trusted HR leader within the institution.
Abby began her career at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, developing a strong foundation across HR functions and building expertise in talent systems, workforce programs, and employee experience. Her steady progression reflects her ability to manage complex HR portfolios, build cohesive teams, and deliver people strategies aligned with regulatory and operational priorities in large-scale, mission-critical environments.
She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Washington University in St. Louis – Olin Business School, strengthening her leadership, strategic thinking, and business acumen.
